A production inspired by the novels of Édouard Louis about the transformation of the relationship between a mother and her son, set in motion by the decision to break out of the cycle of violence and silence.
Eddy B. grew up in a poor working-class family in northern France, in an environment marked by violence, daily humiliation and homophobia. As an adult, he decided to leave. He changed his name, wrote books about his childhood and became famous. He spoke about things that were never discussed at home – and through this, he established himself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary French literature.
Yet his success did not only transform his own life. By publishing his story, he also offered his mother the possibility to leave and begin anew. But at what cost, when their private lives are now known to the entire world?
The stage adaptation freely interweaves three novels by Édouard Louis: Change: A Method, A Woman's Battles and Transformations and Monique Escapes.
